If any of your chrysalides get detached from the disk, gently lay them on a napkin on the habitat’s floor next to a side wall. There’s a good chance for them to still
emerge as healthy butterflies.

This is a natural instinct to ward off predators.

Removing the lid may introduce harmful bacteria inside the cup. Your caterpillars have all the food and air they need to develop inside their cup.

It’s possible that you might lose a few caterpillars, chrysalis or butterflies to natural causes. Because of this, we do guarantee 3 out of 5 caterpillars to become healthy butterflies.

It may take days before your caterpillars are ready to move after their arrival. Don’t try to move them on your own.

Growing butterflies with our Caterpillar To Butterfly Kit is an easy, hassle-free process. We guarantee that 3 caterpillars from each cup of 5 will develop into healthy, adult butterflies.

Yes. The sand is good for at least two batches of ants while the gel will remain good for several colonies worth of digging ants.

  1. In the case of sand ant farms, sift out dead ants and old food from the sand. Put it back into your ant farm to start afresh.
  2. In the case of gel ant farms, rinse dead ants and gel debris out of the tunnels with water. Drain the excess water and you are ready for a new colony. New ants will use existing tunnels and dig additional ones.

Their normal lifespan is 3 weeks to 6 months. But it is not uncommon for ants to have a much shorter life in the absence of a queen ant.

Sorry, no. The USDA rules prohibit us from shipping queen ants because they don’t want them to establish colonies where they don’t belong. Also, ant farms are not designed to contain a large queen and the thousands of young she produces. Your ants will work without the queen.

They should be put into the habitat as soon as possible. But if you are not ready to start your adventure yet, you can put them into the refrigerator for up to 4 days without any harm.

Each tadpole needs at least one gallon of water. Depending on whether you ordered the standard or the large habitat, you can put 1 or 2 tadpoles in it.

It can take up to a day before the tadpole starts moving around and exploring the habitat. There is no need to be worried.

It takes about 12 to 16 weeks for tadpoles to turn into frogs with complete weekly water changes.

Such a sudden turn of events is usually caused by unclean water:

  1. Accidentally introducing hand lotion or soap into the habitat during a water change
  2. Forgetting to add the water treatment to tap water
  3. Unattended decaying food in the habitat which turned the water dirty

Unclean water causes harm to your tadpoles over time but the effect is not directly visible. Their condition worsens gradually and leads to their untimely death.

Filters may take away the tadpoles’ food and gravel makes water changes hard.

It is not advisable to keep tadpoles and frogs together because the frog might consider the tadpole to be food.

Carnivorous plants give off scents to attract prey. These are very mild and aren’t noticeable at all.

None of the terrariums have enough space to house small animals or insects along with the plants. Moreover, snails can eat your carnivorous plants.

Make sure the soil is moist at all times. Don’t water directly over the plant, the water will wash off the sticky liquid. Little flies like gnats can stick to the leaves but house flies can be too big for your Cape sundew to catch.

The lid has been provided to prevent accidental trap closings in case of Venus flytraps or unintentional harm to the plants in general. You can keep the lid off at all times if you want your plants to naturally catch their prey. When your plants outgrow the height of the terrarium you should keep the lid off at all times.

As long as your carnivorous plants receive at least 4 hours of sunlight, they will do fine without a grow light.

Please don’t release the frog into the wild. Your frog may not know how to survive in the wild because it hasn’t learned how to hunt on its own. Here are a few things you can do:

1. Find a friend or neighbor who would like a pet frog, or
2. Donate it to a school for a wildlife display, or
3. Give it to a local pet shop which can possibly find a home for it.
